The TTML would like to congratulate Kaiden Jimmie on scoring the winning goal in the Gold Medal Game at this year’s U14 B-Group Provincial Soccer Tournament! The TTML is proud to have helped make this happen by paying for his travel expenses to go and compete in Kamloops through our Sponsorship Program.
Kaiden and his team, Langley United (LUSA), won the Gold Medal Game against the opposing team Gorge from Victoria. It was a tough game and LUSA were down 0-3 at half time, but through determination and teamwork, LUSA scored 5 goals in the second half, 3 of which happened in the last quarter, and Kaiden, in the #9 jersey, scored the winning goal with less than 4 minutes to go in the game for a 5-4 final score.
Kaiden had been playing Division 2 with Chilliwack FC but wanted to join a Division 1 Spring League and decided to try out for Langley United back in February. LUSA was already slated to be in the Provincials so Kaiden didn’t think it was an option as he had never played with them. As it turns out, they were looking for a couple new players and Kaiden was asked to join them. Kaiden was honoured and said, “I would love to play in the Provincials with them!”
He quickly fit right into the team and played through the season. Once Spring League ended, the team continued to practice on Monday and Wednesdays in Langley in preparation for Provincials and all that effort paid off by bringing home the top medal. This accomplishment helped Kaiden decide to keep playing Division 1 through the Fall/Winter Season.
The team, coaches, and parents have been super welcoming, accepting, and inclusive ever since Kaiden made the move to LUSA, it has been a pleasure to join such a connected team, the bond they have with each other is strong and the friendships they have created will last a lifetime.
The Jimmie family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to TTML for helping make this dream come true for Kaiden!
